We are pleased to invite you to a study morning on short-time work, which will take place on 8 December 2025 in Brussels.

During this morning session, held in English, the results of the BESWEP research project (The Belgian Short-Time Work Scheme: Economic and Psychological Impacts) will be presented and discussed. The project was funded by the Federal Public Planning Service (PPS) Science Policy under the BRAIN-be 2.0 programme.

Professor Muriel Dejemeppe (UCLouvain) coordinated the project, in collaboration with Professors Bart Cockx (Ghent University), Nele De Cuyper (KU Leuven), Hans De Witte (KU Leuven), and Florence Stinglhamber (UCLouvain). Natalia Bermudez, Charlotte Rodriguez, and Giulia Tarullo were the researchers involved in the project.

During the study morning, the joint research results on the effects of short-time work on employment and workers’ well-being will be presented and discussed. On this occasion, we will also publish a new issue of the Gentse Economische Inzichten, in Dutch, focusing on the economic dimension of the research and the related policy recommendations.

In the attached document Flyer.pdf, you will find the detailed programme and all practical information.

Participation (including coffee and lunch) is free of charge, but registration via this link is required.
In-person attendance is encouraged to allow for full participation in the discussions, but remote participation is also possible.

We would be grateful if you could circulate this invitation widely among your colleagues and networks.
